E-Resources Accessibility Testing
Overview
The Penrose Library is committed to providing equitable access to information and services for all users. As part of this commitment, we are actively reviewing Vendor Voluntary Product Accessibility Templates (VPATs) for our electronic resources to better understand how well these products conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 and 2.2, Level AA.
VPATs provide information about a vendor’s assessment of their product’s accessibility features and known limitations. While a VPAT does not guarantee full accessibility, it helps us identify potential barriers and areas where accommodations or alternative access may be needed. Information gathered through this review process is used to:
- Evaluate the accessibility of current library resources
- Inform conversations with vendors about accessibility improvements
- Support more accessible purchasing and renewal decisions going forward
The Penrose Library recognizes that accessibility is an ongoing process. We will continue to work with vendors, campus partners, and our user community to improve access to library resources and services.
