FAQs on Returning books

How should I return books if:

I am in Walla Walla?

If you are local, return items using the book drop at the Penrose Library entrance.

I will be returning to Walla Walla soon or in the Fall?

You may keep the materials until you return to campus. Access Services will be extending due dates for returning students, there will be no overdue fines. You will receive an email notification with your new due date.

I returned my books but they’re still marked checked out.

We are not in the library every day so there is a chance we haven’t taken it out of the return bin yet. That being said, please feel free to reach out and we will check when we are in the library to see if it wasn’t properly checked in.

I mailed my books, when will they show up as checked in?

We are only receiving packages on Fridays, so it may take up to a week once it has arrived in Walla Walla to end up in our hands.

Fines?

We are waving any overdue fines but the system applies them and then they have to be credited back, so you will get an initial fine notice but be credited the next day. The credit will show up as a negative number on your student account e.g. $ -.25 would be a $.25 refund.
